gobble gobble gobble! (guess where I am?)

Sitting in the Turkish airport....

isaac is feeling very sleepy. we just watched movies for 10 hours straight. the airplane was very warm, but cozy. they gave us funky green socks and green masks. and lipbalm! hehe!

and we're sitting at a cafe (which is very expensive! but the turkish coffee and ice cream were deeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious mmm) and the guy sitting next to us left a roll of bread in his basket when he left and isaac wanted it so we ate it. shh!!! and now he's sleeping on the lounge sofa thinggo =)

a song called "i love to dance" is playing!

we'll leave in an hour or something to look for our gate to the plane!
i can't wait to land in kl and see my family and puppies and EVERYONE else :D

Hey, want to learn some Turkish?
Kapilar means "gate" and WC means "toilet" (jk about the wc.. that's what the signs translate) and this is airplane: uçak!

and THIS is "the moon wanders and years go by": Ay dolanır yıllar geçer

isaac looks so peaceful when he sleeps.
(ooh! now the song "cry me a river" is playing...)
(and now it changed to a jazz song :)

autumn is lovely, brrrr..

I'm making a website in Cyberspace class! But I lost the thumbdrive with all my work on it :( When I finish the website, I'll let you know the link, ok? :)
It's really fun using Dreamweaver!
(that's the program we use for making websites) I love to put photos from National Geographic on the site!!! go to nationalgeographic.com to see what I'm talking about. They are beautifull... and clear, and quite psychedelic (1)

you'd love the weather here... super cold! Except I eschew (2) the outside when I can because my nose turns into an ice cube :O
(see below for definitions heehee)

PS: are you going to see the 7th Harry Potter? It looks freaky... and here's a funny video on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MahTKZDHXaA&ob=av3e

PPS: i miss malaysia weather... and you <3

1: very very colorful and crrrazy like alice and wonderland :P
2: to avoid or shun something...

some poems i wrote while doing math hw =D

I rode a goat to town today.
The women stopped and stared.
The Russian men who run the pen were fully un-bewared.
The market place was happen-stance,
The rest was MIT.
The barber is my therapist,
But you’re my Bubble Tea!

Tumblers are for logger thumbs
And bald-spots make you sneeze,
But boys in Santa Barbara
Are bending at the knees,
To see a peck of peppered pigs
Emit a symphony—
Around about and up and out,
They’re not the pigs for me!

Lovely-green and cumbersome,
A cucumber may lend:
A tasty lunch, a summer crunch,
A treat for your old friend…
But in the least a hungry beast shall
Be no longer lone—
If he do find a cu’mber rind
With flesh upon its bone!

:-)

SO, my third week of college has been quite an experience. Why? well, I will tell:
My school is in a constanct brouhaha (1) of faces and new sounds... it can get overwhelming at times, but I enjoy the pulse of the city! (bum-BUM bum-BUM)

My classes are quite exciting- Cyberspace (search the word "run" on your computer and then type in "cmd" and enter... you can learn to talk to your computer this way through tons of secret codes!) and Mosaics (we are learning that the Mesopatamian gods flooded the earth, but unlike God, they regretted their decision because they were hungry for man's sacrifices... uh-oh) are just 2 of my 5 awesome classes :D

However, sometimes my classes are boring and my teachers go on and on... and then I can't stop doodling. And I get tarantism (2) big time!

There will be more fun words to come!

(1) hullaballoo or commotion
(2) The urge to dance

Phinally in Philly! :D

On Friday the 6th of August, my pops and I jumped in a Malaysian airport taxi... it was a sunny and windy day (perfect for hanging my wet tank top and underwear out the window to dry as we sped down the highway) and we lunched on our last meal of roti. Then came the flight. Snuggling up for a looooooooooooooooong journey, I turned to the old movies, like Doctor Zhivago (a guy with a double chin and a double romance) and the sky over the ocean was BEAUTIful :D

Brr...freeeeezing foggy San Fran, we sizzled in the hot tub, had pizza and watched movies in our snuggly hotel room. In Salt Lake City, we ate bagels. nom nom ^^

Up in Montana, we celebrated!!!! Staying at the Routson's house was amazing, because they're such fun people with fun dogs (Bailey licked my entire arm off) and a fun house :) I saw my buddies again!!! I hung out with Christina and Rachel and loads of others that came to kl in july, and some of their friends too... we ate sushi, went to the fair and I'll miss them a lot. :(

Dun dun dun... Dad + me + Fishing = fun! backpacking in the Beartooths was a blast. we caught 10 fishies (their names were Demetrius, Cassandra, Big Mouth, Kieth, Jeffrey, Winifred, Bob, Desperado, Ulysses and Theodore) the ones we ate (the first 5) were DELICIOUS!!! mmm "gourmet" dad says...

*sigh* I start orientation for school on monday. Although my big brother is here to show me around and I have some friends, I'm still a bit nervous about my classes and making friends. Please pray for me! thanks :)

Love you all very much,

Louisa

treadmills can be super fun ^-^

Ready To Bounce!

I'm aaaaaaaaall packed:
- Half my wardrobe is finally squashed inside a massive brown valise... (the other half is absorbed into Annie's domain)
- Star Spangles is perched beside a Santa Claus mug and a pair of fluffy socks. (He's never traveled before, except in a car, but he's quite confident!)
- Neatly packed in a smaller brown suitcase is a photo of my mom and me smiling at each other, some books, and a box Nadi gave me (I'm keeping my earrings in it)
- My carry-on contains Anna Karenina by Tolstoy and Deodorant (both VERY necessary indeed for a long, tiresome journey across the globe)
- Tucked away in my Daddy's suitcase is a flowery yoga mat which I have spent many lovely moments on and look forward to spending many more...

Dad helped me pick out a laptop online! We just bought it 5 minutes ago. It's a Gemini Red Toshiba with a wavy pattern on the lid. I'm so excited to meet it when I land in Pennsylvania!!!! Help me think of a name for it, ok? It definitely should have one. :)

I'm also going to get a cell phone, but I'll think about it after I get there. haha.
Please pray for me and my dad as we soar across the ocean tomorrow! I'll be thinking of each of you and will leave Malaysia behind in loving, capable hands (YOURS!) , so arrivederci, so long, farewell, goodbye and goodnight, my dears.
I will surely see you in December, but for now...

It's time to bounce :D

This is the day that the Lord has made!

Louisa means "Maiden of War"

I'm leaving Malaysia in 2 days!!!!!! I kinda feel like I'm going off to war... what would you do if you had 2 more days to spend with your family before going off to fight in the army? I know college won't have grenades and trenches, but it seems like it will, at times! How do you cope with being bombarded with homework AND unfamiliarity at the same time...? Trust in God, I guess :)

Iman means "Faith" (in Urdu)

Oh boy, war is not for those with a shaky faith. A faithless soldier is like a monkey on a jell-O trampoline... (yum ^^) I don't think I'll be able to handle the constant BOOMs and BANGs and KAPOWs without trusting that Jesus is in my heart.

DeHart means "of the Heart"

When I was little I used to think (ok, maybe for a VERY brief moment) that you could do open heart surgery on me and find Jesus in there, with his own little bedroom and library... well, he doesn't need all those things, but He's in there alright! I invited him in when I was 7 (obviously it was His idea, not mine) :D

I am off to do some yoga. Look up Colossians 2:10 and say it to everyone you meet today. Au revoir! Much love to all of you :) (Judah turned 7 yesterday! woohoo!)

Hair like a beehive. Owch!

Many years ago, a sturdy-looking American writer named Ernest Hemingway ate lunch at a small round table with several other writers. He peered at his friends through the cigar smoke with his dark, volatile eyes and cleared his throat: "I bet each of you I could make a story from six words." They chuckled and guffawed until they found he was quite serious, as he usually was. Ernest scribbled on his napkin after they conceded to play his game, and passed it around the table of astonished authors.

The story he wrote that day was just six words, but as powerful as if it had been six thousand... "For sale: baby shoes, never worn."

Can you write a story out of six words? I thought this would be fairly easy to do, but I discovered that it's difficult to make them meaningful.

Just like the word count of Hemingway's story, we only have a little blip in time to live (compared to Noah's lifespan, a redwood tree, or even God's!)

I wish I could use such few words to mean so much... But more than that, I wish I could use the tiny amount of time I'm alive to enjoy God fully and to glorify His name- it's a good thing He's the Chief Author of my life, because not even Hemingway could do it alone!

Why I'm Making Green Tea

I got up at 7 this morning and looked in the mirror... my eyes had puffy purple hammocks hanging beneath them (oh my!) so I perched on our shoe-shelf and googled "Baggy Eyes".
This is what I found:

1. Sleep more!
2. Eat more Vitamin C
3. It could be allergies, so take medicine.
4. Use a higher pillow so the fluids run out of your face :)
5. Do eye exercises: look at your nose, look to the left, look to the right- again!
6. Put frozen (used) green tea bags on your (closed) eyes.
7. Go buy a special eye cream... yum...
8. Lay off the salt licks.
